Tyla, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido Nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards
South African singer Tyla is among the nominees for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards, scheduled to hold on February 1, 2026.

The 24-year-old artiste rose to global prominence in 2023 with her breakout single Water, which earned her the inaugural Grammy for Best African Music Performance in 2024. That win made her the youngest African female artiste to receive a Grammy in the category.
For the 2026 awards, Tyla has been nominated with her single Push 2 Start, which has gained international attention since its release. The song blends Afropop influences with contemporary global sounds and has recorded significant streaming and chart success.
She will compete in the category alongside established African acts, including Burna Boy (Love), Davido featuring Omah Lay (With You), Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin (Hope & Love), and Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid (Gimme Dat).
Notably, several of the nominees—Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Ayra Starr—were also contenders in the same category during the 2024 Grammy Awards, where Tyla emerged as the winner.
Push 2 Start has performed strongly across multiple platforms. The official music video has surpassed 134 million views on YouTube, and the track achieved early traction shortly after release. It also won Best Afrobeats Video at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, marking Tyla’s second win in that category.
On international charts, the song debuted at number 88 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making Tyla one of the few African female artistes with multiple solo entries on the chart. It also reached number one on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart and the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart.
As the 2026 Grammy Awards approach, the Best African Music Performance category reflects the growing global reach of African music, with both emerging and established artistes represented among this year’s nominees.
