AFRIMA Awards 2026: Burna Boy, Shallipopi and Rema Win Major Honours
The 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) was held in Lagos in January 2026, with artistes from across the continent recognized for achievements in African music. The ceremony took place at the Eko Events Centre, Victoria Island, and featured awards spanning multiple genres and regions.

Nigerian artistes recorded significant wins at the event, with Rema, Burna Boy, and Shallipopi emerging among the top recipients.
Rema was the most awarded artiste of the night, winning Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in African RnB & Soul. The awards reflect his sustained commercial success and growing influence across African and international music markets.
Shallipopi won Song of the Year for his track Laho. The remix of the song featuring Burna Boy also received the Best African Collaboration award.
Burna Boy secured the Album of the Year award for No Sign of Weakness, adding to his list of continental and international recognitions.
Other Nigerian artistes were also honored during the ceremony. Yemi Alade won Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary for You Are from Iyanu: The Animated Series. Phyno received Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop, while Qing Madi was named Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Chella won the African Fans’ Favourite award.
The 2026 AFRIMA Awards highlighted Nigeria’s strong presence in African music while showcasing a wide range of artistes from different parts of the continent.
